Are you ready to finish 2020 strong? I have decided to declare October as ‘Make 2020 Count’ month meaning we are going to end this month strong and set the stage for a record-breaking end of the year.
My ultimate goal is to help you finish 2020 strong and we are going to use October to make sure that you’re getting off on the right foot.
You can get a lot accomplished between now and the end of the year. With everything that’s happened this year, we’ve all had to learn to change, grow, and adapt. Your business is no different.
If you set your mind to it, you can get yourself set up for massive success for Black Friday & Cyber Monday and then ride that momentum all the way through Christmas and New Year’s.
Reflection
Step one to a strong finish for 2020 is to do a bit of reflection. Look back at your word of the year. Does it fit with the energy to finish 2020 strong? At Kate Doster HQ, our words were ‘simplify’ and ‘amplify’.
While I still love those words, what I’ve been talking about more than that is being brave and courageous. Bravery is the key to success, just like failures are. It takes bravery to have the courage to launch something. That’s the key to success. Everyone always wants to know how to achieve their goals faster. It’s being brave every single day.
What about you? Do you need to change your word of the year to finish 2020 strong? Or does the one you started out with still relate to current events? Either way, write it out on a post-it note. Put it on the background screen of your computer. Set it as your phone’s wallpaper. Just make sure it sinks in there.
Review & Reset
The second thing I want you to do moving forward is to review the goals you had at the beginning of the year. Chances are you’re going to find that you’re not close to it. For 2020, we had some aggressive monetary goals and to be honest, we’re not there yet. We are nowhere near where I dreamt of being this time in 2020.
So what does that mean?
I don’t want you feeling bad and like it’s impossible for you to reach your goals in the next three months. Look back at what you have accomplished so far. Get really friggin excited for how far you’ve come and know that you’re focusing on being brave and you’re going to keep moving forward to finish 2020 strong.
Forgive yourself for not getting there. That’s key. But don’t forget the good stuff. Just get rid of the excuses and keep on marching towards your goals.
We’re going to ditch the excuses. We are not going to be too hard on ourselves. We’re not going to wallow in self-doubt. Instead, we are going to feel excited that we still have three more months to make it happen.
It’s all about moving forward.
Are you ready to Finish 2020 Strong? I declare October ‘Finish 2020 Strong’ month meaning its time to set the stage to finish 2020 strong.Take Stock
Once you’ve reflected and reviewed, it’s time to take stock. I want you to take stock of everything you currently have when it comes to marketing assets and paid programs. That’s what we’re going to look at to finish 2020 strong.
When you’re taking stock of what you have, make sure that what you have is still relevant. You may have pivoted over the year as you’ve grown. Check to see if you’ve got any unfinished projects that you’ve left on the back burner. Or maybe you’ve created three new products and you haven’t updated your welcome series to reflect that.
To finish 2020 strong, you want to make sure that you are maximizing thing things that you already have that still work and you retire the things that are no longer serving your mission.
For the next three months, make sure that as many people as possible know about what you have to offer. Focus on making sure that your people have the best experience possible when they purchase anything from you. Schedule some time to revamp your emails for your new subscribers and your buyers.
This is a great time to add some more personality and give your new subscribers more of a taste of what you’re all about by adding links to relevant blog posts or YouTube videos. Have you been a guest on a podcast or summit this year? Put that in your welcome series too. You’re building authority while your audience is getting to know you. While you’re revamping your email automations, make sure that you’re mentioning your products and affiliate products that you have.
While you’re taking stock of what you have in your marketing stable, take some time to get everything organized in a spreadsheet or a Trello board so you have an easy reference when it’s time to promote your products and drop your links.
Finish 2020 Strong with a Game Plan
Moving forward, what is the big thing that you want to work on in October? November? December? What is the big overarching thing you want to work on all three months? If your big thing is something like writing a book, you may need to break it down into chunks. Maybe October is outlining your book and getting the first few chapters done. Then November would be all about finding an editor and getting the cover designed. Then November is about finishing it up and launching it.
When you know what your goals are, you can tease them out to your audience. You can ask their opinions on what they think of your book cover, what they think of your chapter titles, what size book they prefer, and anything else you can think of.
I’m looking at these last three months of 2020 like it’s 2020 2.0. And I’m excited about what we’ve got going on. I want you to get excited too. Have fun. Set your goals and go after them!
What are some brave ways you can think of to get you closer to your goals? Maybe it’s a new free resource. Maybe it’s getting booked on podcasts. Or running ads for the first time. It’s your 2020 2.0. What are you going to do with it?
Most importantly, make sure you’re showing up in people’s inboxes because Black Friday and Cyber Monday are right around the corner. We’re going to be more about that in next week’s blog post because that’s going to be key to finish 2020 strong for a lot of people, including me.
